Sue Carr trained as a Biologist/Geologist and worked for MAFF in Winchester. In the early 1980's Sue moved to Canada and trained as a production thrower in a Porcelain workshop beside Lochaber Lake in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. All the porcelain was fired in electric kilns and decoration was oxide brushwork.
Four years later Sue set up her first workshop in Scotland in Bridge-of-Weir and continued with similar decoration and shapes. The second workshop was set up in the Forest-of-Dean and here Sue developed her new range of brightly coloured reduction glazes and broke away from the Sung inspired shapes of her training. The third workshop is now in Devon, where Sue's work can now be bought in her Gallery at Heathfield Down Farmhouse in Modbury. |
